Travel Requirements
Effective November 8, 2021, all non-immigrant, non-U.S. citizen air travelers to the United States will be required to be fully vaccinated and to provide proof of vaccination status prior to boarding an airplane to the United States.
The information below is subject to change at any time, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Always review the website of the Swedish Border Police prior to your travel for full and current details.
- As of April 1, there are no COVID-19-specific entry restrictions. Regular rules for entering Sweden will be applied.
- All domestic COVID mitigation measures other than for health and social care settings were removed on February 9, 2022. Please see the Swedish Heath Agency website for full details.

COVID-19 Testing
- Are PCR and/or antigen tests available for U.S. citizens in Sweden? Yes
- If so, are test results reliably available within one calendar day? Yes
- PCR-tests (confirming the presence of the Novel Coronavirus in sick individuals) and rapid antigen tests are available in Sweden. Testing in Sweden is organized by regional and local authorities and is primarily conducted through private clinics. Individuals who do not possess Swedish citizenship or residency are expected to pay all the costs of testing. Costs vary depending on the clinic conducting the test and they type of test requested, ranging between approximately 500 SEK (USD 60) and 3000 SEK (USD 360).

COVID-19 Vaccination

- Are vaccines available in Sweden for U.S. citizens to receive? Yes
- U.S. citizens in Sweden may qualify for vaccines. Sweden’s vaccination plan is based on year of birth. Consult regional health authorities for current access eligibility or call 1177 in Sweden or visit the Krisinformation.se website for more information.
- Which vaccines are available in Sweden?
- Comirnaty (Pfizer/BioNTech), Moderna, and Vaxzevria (AstraZeneca). It is important to note that one cannot request a particular vaccine manufacturer.
