1) To vote in the November 2020 elections, all overseas U.S. citizens need to have completed a Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) in 2020. Whether you are a first-time voter or have already received ballots and voted absentee in past elections, you must complete an FPCA each year to participate in elections as an overseas absentee voter. Voters should review our voting webpage and previous updates for information on overseas voting, the impact of COVID-19 on elections, and other frequently asked questions. 2) Did you know that you may be eligible to renew your U.S. passport without scheduling an appointment at the U.S. Embassy? You can renew your most recent passport by mail if ALL of the following are true:
It is undamaged and can be submitted with your application;
It was issued when you were age 16 or older;
It was issued within the last 15 years; and
It was issued in the exact same name as your previous passport or you can legally document your name change with original or certified copy of your marriage certificate or the government-issued document evidencing your legal name change under federal or state law.

3) On August 27, Sweden extended until October 31 its temporary ban on entry of all foreign nationals, including U.S. citizens, trying to enter the EU via Sweden. However, there are exceptions, including for students and certain travelers. For more information, including exceptions to the ban, please refer to the announcement on the Swedish government website or the government Q&A here.
4) Please be advised that the U.S. Embassy in Stockholm will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. We will reopen for limited consular services on Tuesday, September 8.
