Learn, exchange, grow, and serve. The U.S. Department of State offers many programs for non-U.S. citizens wishing to come to the U.S. for cultural, educational, or professional exchange. These programs are augmented by local opportunities in countries around that world that allow non-U.S. citizens to explore U.S. culture and the English language.
The United States supports international education and welcomes foreign students and exchange visitors. Before applying for a visa, students and exchange visitors must be accepted by their schools or program sponsors.
American English is a resource center for teaching and learning about American English.
The Information Resource Center (IRC) Stockholm is the Embassy’s research and reference service, assisting both the general public and the Embassy’s target audience. With our specialized knowledge of the United States, we can help you find an answer to a U.S.-related question or point you in the right direction for further information.
Swedish Fulbright Commission/Stockholm EducationUSA
The Swedish Fulbright Commission administers yearly grants for Swedes and Americans to conduct graduate and post-doctoral research, and other programs in both countries. It also offers education advising for those who would like to study in the U.S, as one of two EducationUSA offices in Sweden. Telephone hours for education advising are Monday, Tuesday between 8:00 – 16:30 and Wednesday between 8:00-12:00. The Public Affairs Section organizes conferences, seminars, and talks by visiting American officials and academics as well as electronic meetings of American and Swedish interlocutors.
