Message for U.S. Citizens: Embassy Stockholm COVID-19 Update #19: Sweden Extends Temporary Entry Ban and Trav

1)  Effective March 19th, Sweden temporarily banned the entry of all foreign nationals trying to enter Sweden from a country not part of the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland.  The ban was recently extended to June 30th.  For more information, including exceptions to the ban, visit the Swedish Government website.

2)  The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) also extended its advice against travel to countries outside of the EU, the EEA, and the Schengen area until August 31st.  The MFA will lift its advice against travel to Belgium, Croatia, France, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland on June 30th.  The advice against travel to all other EU, EEA, and Schengen area countries remains in place until July 15th.  For more information on these changes, please review the announcement on the Swedish government website.

3)  Please be advised that the U.S. Embassy in Stockholm will be closed on Friday, June 19th, in observance of Midsummer Eve.  We will reopen for limited (emergency) consular services on Monday, June 22nd.
