Information about the Presidential Proclamation to Mitigate Risks Posed by COVID-19

Due to public health measures to limit the spread of COVID-19, effective March 18 U.S. Embassy Stockholm is operating under maximum telework status and has suspended routine consular services. For emergency American Citizens Services appointments, including emergency passports, please email StkACSinfo@state.gov.

Travelers are urged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive Alerts and make it easier to locate you in an emergency.

Effective May 26th, all visitors to the U.S. Embassy, including those for U.S. Citizen services and visa appointments, are required to wear face coverings at all times while inside the Embassy and Consular Section. Visitors are expected to bring their own masks/face coverings when visiting and may be turned away if they are unable to comply with this requirement. Please visit this CDC webpage for tips on how to create and effectively use cloth face coverings

Air Travel to the United States: Many travelers in Sweden have reported unexpected flight cancellations and limited flight availability. If your travel has been disrupted, please contact your airline. U.S. citizens who are considering returning to the United States are urged to work directly with their airlines to make travel arrangements while flights are still available.

The American Citizen Services (ACS) unit provides information and assistance to U.S. citizens in Sweden.
The American Citizen Services Unit is located in the Consular Section of the American Embassy. We are open to the public between 12:30 and 14:30 except for Swedish and American holidays.

The American Citizen Services (ACS) unit has implemented an online appointment system for all passport, citizenship and notary services. These routine services are by appointment only.
