COVID-19 vaccine requirement for Immigrant Visa Applicants
2 MINUTE READ
January 31, 2023

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is requiring that all Immigrant Visa applicants, including children six months and older, be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.  The Immigrant Visa Section wants to help prevent any delays in our applicant’s medical screening process and therefore, we are encouraging our applicants to begin the vaccination process now, if you are not already vaccinated for COVID-19.

Being fully vaccinated means that the applicant has completed the vaccine series, which can take a couple of weeks depending on doses and formulation.  You will need to present your original vaccination card to the panel physician at the time of your medical appointment.  This new requirement is a crucial step forward as we all work together to fight COVID-19.  Please note that the COVID-19 requirement will only apply to regular immigrant visa applicants.

Only a panel physician can determine which of the listed vaccinations are medically appropriate for you, given your age, medical history and current medical condition and availability in country. Any questions regarding the medical examination must be directed to the panel physician once you have been scheduled for an appointment.  For more detailed information, please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Panel Physician Technical Instructions for Vaccination.
